“You Smell Good”…There are Angels in Wayzata!
July 11th, 2008 Categories: Home Style, Real Estate News, Taste Minnesota, Wayzata News
I got off to a bad start this morning what with a purchase agreement that’s been pending for too long and other various annoying events.
I picked myself up by my bootstraps and headed down to Wayzata to go grocery shopping at Lund’s. As I was checking out, a nice young man, who was packing my groceries said, “You smell good.” I can’t tell you how that one little sentence lifted my spirits!
He’s an angel.

Ahhh…Finally, a Day Off! Cooking Up a Storm…The Day in the Life of a Busy Realtor

After six weeks of sitting the Parade of Homes and taking care of my sellers, it’s finally Easter weekend.
OK, I spent four hours in the office today (ask Jen Crockett at my Keller Williams Market Center…I was there!) but I still felt like it was a bit of a vacation. I haven’t figured out why I feel that way. Maybe no appointments. Maybe I figured no one would call me. Maybe I figured everyone else was busy with their families for the Easter holiday weekend.
Here’s what I did when I got home at 3ish… Read the rest of this entry »

The Demise of Dave…Delving into a Deep, Deep Diversion
February 7th, 2008 Categories: BNI Full Circle Chapter, Home Style, Outside of the Box, Real Estate News, The Good Life
Dave.
Who names anybody Dave? My grandkids do. They’re just little kids who have friends who’s names are Kennedy and Austin and Walker and McKenzie. You get the picture.
For whatever reason, they named a little duck that I sent them, Dave.
Dave got lost. Like, really lost. He was flushed down the toilet by sweet little Caroline, my four year old granddaughter and it was a huge, catastrophic loss to the children. He’s now stuck out in the backyard in the septic system.
Caroline called me in tears wanting me to get Dave back for her. I’m working on it!
I actually spent two hours on the internet last Sunday night searching for what I thought might be Dave.
I had sent them an Easter Basket that I ordered online and I have no idea what the thing looked like. They gave me a description and I just started searching. I finally found something that seemed like Dave and sent them an email with the link.
It was Dave!
So, I have my wonderful promotional product salesperson in my BNI Full Circle Chapter in Plymouth, MN working on getting it for me from a supplier. Her name is Karen Bateman, owner of Windstar Promotions. She works very hard to find just the right items for companies.
Caroline, don’t you flush Dave again!

Does Your House Have “Pop”? New Buzz Words in Marketing Your Home
December 17th, 2007 Categories: Home Style, Outside of the Box, Real Estate News
The latest buzz word in the real estate world these days is “pop”. What does “pop” mean anyway? I’ve seen tons of homes lately that are just “ho hum”. Where did all of this lingo come from?
When I was a kid, “pop” meant a can of soda. Some people think “pop” means to smack somebody in the face. Or, maybe it meant smack somebody in the mug. Which, sometimes, pop actually does comes in a mug. Like root beer. Remember A&W Root Beer? That was pop that came in a mug.
“Space” is another buzz word that we hear when speaking about homes. Space is a room. Let’s call it a room. Space is up in the atmosphere. Space is an empty area that has air and not much else going on. Realtors and stagers comment, “What a great space!” “We can do so much with this space!”
I’d like to pop the folks who overuse the word “space”. I’d like to have some space from the people who use the word “pop” to describe the space that needs a bit of help in refurbishing a dull, boring room.
I know that the stagers and designers of the world would like to keep things fun, light and interesting, but it’s time that they think of a couple of other words besides “pop” and “space”.

Twin Cities…Meet the Flintstones!

After 12 years of sleeping on the same mattress, or should I say, sinking on the same mattress my husband, Tony, and I decided to give ourselves a mattress for a Christmas present.
We thought we knew what we were doing. I had just been down to visit Mom in Knoxville and she dragged me with her for a new mattress search for herself. She picked the extra soft, pillow top, set your wine glass on it and jump around style. I tested it and I couldn’t get out of the thing!
Well, none of that for us!
I would like to be able to hop out of bed in the morning so as to serve my real estate clients to the best of my ability! So we went to Sears at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka and bought Read the rest of this entry »
